My Ring is on Design Sponge!

Design Sponge did an article about DIY weddings featuring Angie and Tyson's great gig. At the very bottom of the lovely scroll of photos is a picture of the Forget Me Not bow ring (available in my Etsy shop) that Tyson bought for Angie for an engagement ring last December. They got married in July. I'm excited to see the great wedding they put together, and to see my ring on Design Sponge!

Lamore Ring in Celadon

I have this ring in three colors: a burnt orange, a lovely purple and this light mossy celadon. The flower is of vintage Lucite with a small glass, ivory-colored bead for the center. It's riveted onto a wide (.25") sterling band. This is the first one I've made in the green. The Lamore Ring in all three colors is available in my Etsy shop.

After The Rain Stacking Rings

This is actually a design that I've made before. It was a while ago and I only made one. I saw it again when I was flipping through my design sketch book and thought I'd made a newer version of it. This time I've forged a wider, heavier hammered band for the main ring. The two side rings are also heavier and hammered. It gives the whole thing a more organic feel. I like the look of the three rings not being the same width. And, of course, they can be worn together or individually. Obviously, due to the way the mushrooms? droplets? antennae? are created, each ring is one-of-a-type. This one is a size 7.5. I call this design After the Rain and it's currently available in my Etsy shop.

Mobish Ring

Not quite a mobius strip, it's mobe-ish. A wide sterling band with a twist. This ring is actually a prototype and will serve as a model for a slightly more developed design. The one-of-a-kind Mobish Ring is currently available in my Etsy shop.

Simple Spinner

I finally did it. I wanted to make a spinner ring and here is my first go at it. Back to a very simple, almost stark, design. It has a very Scandinavian quality to me with plain band and the squared spinner. Sometime I think things just don't need anymore.



Basic, simple, strong, modern. The band is .25" wide and of heavier gauge so it has a really nice feel. The Simple Spinner Ring (catchy name huh?) is available in my Etsy shop.

Sproing Ring

Talk about evolution! The original design for this ring looks nothing like how this turned out. It's sort of a mish-mash of that design and my trying to figure out spinner rings. (A friend had left me her spinner ring to fix, so I got some "huh, how do they do that?....ooooohhhh" time with it.) And no, this isn't my version of a spinner ring though the rings do spin. Sort of looks like a spring that's sprung, hence the name Sproing. It's one-of-a-type and currently available in my Etsy shop. It's cute, huh? Vaguely anthropomorthic or bug-like or robotic. Or Sproingy.

Transfix Quill Ring

A new Transfix ring. This one is pretty simple, but I like the way the upper arch mimics the shape of the lower curl. This one is made of a heavier gauge (10g) than the others have been.


The motif sits about .5" above the band, so it's suitable for everyday wear. It somehow reminded me of feathers or a birds tail, so I call it Transfix Quill. It's a size 6.75 and is available in my Etsy shop.

River Band

I feel like I'm leaning towards simpler, more straight forward designs lately. Not that this is a big departure for me, but almost everything I've worked on recently seems basic in style. Here's another one. A very simple ring, a basic band. Hammered for a lovely texture that sparkles a bit and catches the light. It's wider than the average ring, about 1/4", and of a thicker stock, so it's got a really nice weight. I've named it River Band and it's available in my Etsy shop.

Buckle Ring

I'm on a Vintage Lucite Bender

I admit it, I fell in love. I love the color, the design, the size. The second I saw these vintage Lucite flowers I knew exactly what the rings would look like. There you go. These wonderful burnt-orange (what? pansies?) flowers are big, but lightweight. They are riveted to a heavy gauge sterling band. Fun, but sort of sophisticated too. Definitely love. I bought all they had, which was only a few. I call it the Lamore Ring.

Then, I saw these too groovy beach-ballish, chinese-lanterny, fluted beads and I had to have them too. I've paired them with a long, slender brass tab. The are called Riviera Earrings in my Etsy shop. They make my jewelry making heart sing! Unfortunately I was too slow on the uptake. I only got a few when I saw them; when I went back... gone. All gone. I nearly cried - until I found other Lucite cuties.

Now: No. More. Supplies. I have WAY too much in the house and need to make with what I have before I allow myself to spend on anything else. Really.

Transfix Sprout Ring

The latest in an occasional series of rings called Transfix because they are all designed around one side piercing the other. The new one, Transfix Sprout, is very graceful and fluid. I've been told it's really a heart even though *I* think it looks like a leaf and sprout. The other two Transfix rings are below.
These rings are fun to create and I really enjoy the organic feel of the finished design. The new one is made of a little heavier gauge wire than the last couple and also stands much taller. I'm a tall person, I guess I like making tall rings! Each ring requires quite a bit of work in tapering the one end, annealing over and over and hammering and filing, polishing, etc. Although they are one-of-a-kind, it's not to say I won't be making others really similar to the ones that exist.

Man Ring

My first real foray into men's jewelry. I have, in the past made a pendant (on the right), that was based on a more feminine version I was selling, as a custom order. And I recently made leeettle earrings for a male friend. But up to now, nothing in my Etsy shop specifically for men.
So I took it easy on myself and went for the clean, simple band, called Man Ring. Very heavy gauge sterling, hammered square and left with some of the hammering for texture. (Shhhh, I actually have something similar for myself) Although I think it's very masculine, a woman could just as well wear it. Bright and strong - just how I like my men!

Forget Me Not Ring

I generally like everything I make, but sometimes something just makes me smile. This bow ring has me grinning. I've tried to recall where the inspiration for this cute little ring came from, but I think it was just a flash. Although it took a bit to figure out the Forget Me Not Ring, it was fun making it come together. I really like it and think it's adorable. What's happening to me?... I'm making cute. A perfect little gift for your finger and now available in my Etsy shop. Like I wrote in the description: adora-bow!

New Beginnings Two

Not that I don't ever put anything away but when even I can't find anything on my work bench, it's time to clean up.Clean actually means straightened, not really clean. And it certainly doesn't mean organized. Hopefully that will come about soon, because even straightened up I still can't find stuff. It's no way to work and keeps me from motivating to make jewelry.

After "straightening" however, I did manage to produce a couple of things.
Like this new ring I call Midnight Rising. I really like the look of lapis with sterling, but then, I've always been partial to blue.

I also made this sweet, bright Millefiori Necklace of colorful glass discs wired with oxidized sterling. The colors pop against the contrasting wire. Wire wrapping like this takes lots of time, so I don't do entire necklaces that often, but every now and again...
